The Danish Diabetes Academy calls for 1-year postdoctoral fellowship applications within the field of diabetes and metabolism. Only one 1-year scholarship, aimed at candidates who have obtained their PhD degree within the last 12 months wishing to pursue a research carreer within diabetes, is available.

All qualified candidates are encouraged to apply, regardless of age, gender, religious affiliation or ethnic background.
All candidates with a PhD degree in health or basic science and technology obtained within the last 12 months or with a PhD thesis accepted for defense can apply.
Candidates should document acceptance of scientific collaboration with at least one scientific member of the Danish Diabetes Academy i.e. a research manager/ prinicipal investigator doing research within diabetes, who is registered as a member of the Danish Diabetes Academy and employed at a Danish university. A letter of support from the research manager in question as well as the relevant department chair should be included.

- A candidate can only submit one application.
The fellowship projects should be within the five main research areas of the Academy; type 1 diabetes, type 2 diabetes, diabetes in pregnancy, diabetic complications and diabetes technology.

All qualified applications will be evaluated by international independent peer reviewers.
The evaluation will be based on the following criteria:
- Scientific excellence of the applicant
- Scientific excellence of the project and the research environment
- The extent to which the bridging fellowship will strengthen the candidate's possibility to continue in a successful research career (applies to 1-year fellowships only)
The responsible project managers/ principal investigators will be informed by the Academy about the decision and confirmation of the employment will be given by the project manager and respective institution.
The selected candidates will be contacted and the successful projects and names of the candidates will be posted on this website.
Granted amount: 600.000 DKK per year
Please note that the Danish Diabetes Academy is not able to cover any operating expenses.
The Danish Diabetes Academy have no influence on the employment of the Post Doc fellow other than allocating the fellowship to the workplace of the Post Doc fellow in question.
Terms of employment shall be a mutual agreement between the Post Doc fellow and the institution/university at which the research will take place.
DANISH DIABETES ACADEMY MEMBERSHIP
The selected candidates will be expected to sign up for Danish Diabetes Academy membership, teach at courses and seminars offered by the Academy and to participate in Academy activities in general.
